I have a vague memory of being in first grade with a kid named Aloysius.
He was the teacher’s pet. Even at 7 years old he had the reputation of being a genius because he was a good reader and could pronounce all the big words.
I remember thinking how rare this genius thing must be since everyone was making such a big fuss over him.
As I grew up, I heard the word genius used to describe famous inventors and scientists like Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.
I continued to think that being a genius was a very rare occurrence in the general population.
Turns out I was wrong. Dead wrong.
Much later than I’d like to admit, I learned that we all have our own special brand of genius.
And tapping into that genius will give us clues about the things we should spend our precious time on. This is something I really wish I knew about when I was much younger…for so many reasons.
But one of the biggest reasons is because this is how to create the most fulfilling and satisfying life…
Did you know that YOU have a Zone of Genius?
These are tasks and skills that come easiest to you, stuff that you find endlessly fascinating, things you’ve picked up over the course of your life.
Your Zone of Genius is something that you can do better than MOST people!
Now imagine if you could find a career in YOUR Zone of Genius?!
Most of us spend 48+ hours a week at work. That really stacks up over the span of our work lives.
Since you’re in it for the long haul, it’s SO important to find a career you love. A career that ALIGNS with your Genius work.
Otherwise, work will feel like drudgery, and you’ll drag yourself from day to day going through the motions like a zombie (I’ve been there and it’s awful).
Your ideal career will combine your passions with a great paycheck, and could VASTLY improve your emotional, mental, and physical health in one solid swoop.
I’d love to hear from you. What do you think your Zone of Genius is?
